Understanding the TASFA
tudents qualifying for state residency under House Bill 1403/Senate Bill 1528 are eligible to apply for state financial aid. This is a special consideration that the state of Texas makes for Non- U.S. Citizens, Permanent Residents, or Refugees. In order to receive aid, then you must do the TASFA—even if you have a social security number!
Mexican Citizens with Financial Need – Border Nations Waiver
This program allows a certain number of Mexican citizens to attend Texas public colleges while paying in-state tuition. With this particular program, students who receive the waiver can go to any public university in the state of Texas.
