ollege visits are a great way to demonstrate your sincere interest in a school. If you truly want to attend a particular college, you need to arrange to visit early. Also, if possible, schedule an interview with a person in the admissions office.
This is your opportunity to compare different physical aspects of a campus:
[show-hide]• Dorms
• Classrooms
• Dining Halls[/show-hide]
When to visit:
[show-hide]• In a perfect world – Junior Year
• In a not-so-perfect world – Fall of your Senior year[/show-hide]
Why to visit:
[show-hide]• Colleges keep track of those students interested in their school
• They do care, and they do want you to go to their school[/show-hide]
When to schedule a trip:
[show-hide]• Ahead of time, like 2 to 3 weeks in advance
• Popular schools fill up, so schedule your tour/campus visit before making travel arrangements[/show-hide]
What to do while you are visiting a campus:
[show-hide]• Schedule a visit with a professor
- It makes you look interested
- That person may take up for you with an admissions committee
- Creates a professional connection on campus
- They may note that visit in your file [/show-hide]
Additional visit options:
[show-hide]• Prospective Students
- Overnight stay in a dorm
- Special events[/show-hide]
Demonstrated Interest:
Visiting a school shows a desire [show-hide] to attend [/show-hide]
• It can make a difference in your acceptance
• Everyone understands that you can’t spend a ton of time and money on campus visits:
– If the campus is nearby, go in person
– If it’s far away, get in touch with a local admissions representative for that school
