A

pplying to college can be extremely expensive if you’re not keeping up with the ways to save money.

How much does the SAT cost?

[show-hide]-  $50. And that’s if you register on time!
–  If you make a mistake and register late, the cost becomes $77.
–  And, if you really forget and have to go on the waitlist? You’ll have to pay $94![/show-hide]

How much does the ACT cost?

[show-hide]-  $50.50 with writing, $35.50 without writing – you should take it with writing.
–  Late registration: $72.50
–  Standby testing: $93.50 [/show-hide]

A

nd, you don’t just have to pay to take the tests. You also have to pay to apply to college, and it’s not cheap. So, what are we talking about here?

Sample Application Fees:

The University of Texas: [show-hide] $75 [/show-hide]

Texas State University: [show-hide] $50 [/show-hide]

St. Mary’s University: [show-hide] $55 [/show-hide]

T

hose fees can quickly add up, especially if you apply to four or five schools. And, you deserve to have options, so you should send in several applications. How are you going to pay for it?

Many students qualify for what are called: [show-hide]Fee waivers.[/show-hide]

What will these Fee Waivers allow me to do?

[show-hide]1. Take the SAT or ACT twice
2. Receive four free application fee waivers
3. Take SAT Subject Tests for free[/show-hide]

N

ot everyone qualifies for fee waivers, but many people do – more than 15% of test-takers, in fact.

Do I Qualify?
You need to look at the qualifications on page 18 and 19 of the workbook to see if you are eligible for SAT fee waivers and/or ACT free waivers.
